Botswana and Namibia

A great introduction to southern Africa, for those who want to explore scenic wonders, and observe fascinating culture and wildlife. The barren Makgadikgadi Pans are markedly different from the lush, subtropical paradise of the Okavango Delta. For pure excitement, we'll paddle a mokoro (dugout canoe) through the "Islands of Africa," and explore the stark beauty of Etosha Pan and the Namib Desert. We also examine the cultural traditions of Kgalagadi and Kavangoland. At the end of each day, we relax in comfort in exclusive camps and lodges. This safari includes visits to Bwabwata National Park, Etosha National Park, Linyati Reserve, Makgadikgadi Pans, Moremi Reserve, and the Namib Desert.

Kalahari and Okavango Explorer. Everyone has heard of the Kalahari, but few have ever been there. Great desert wildlife plus the big game animals of the Okavango Delta. This trip is ideally done from March until May, when climate and animal migrations are at their best.

Mozambique and South Africa

An ideal safari for those who want to explore dramatic landscapes, and observe fascinating culture and wildlife. The dry Kalahari Desert is quite different from the lush, subtropical paradise of the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands. We’ll examine the cultural traditions of Kgalagadi and KwaZulu Natal. For pure excitement, we’ll walk with a Shangaan Ranger, following the trail of a pride of lions, and paddle a mokoro (dugout canoe) through the Okavango Delta. At night we relax in comfort in exclusive, luxurious safari lodges. This safari includes visits to Chobe Reserve, Kruger National Park, Linyati Reserve, Moremi Reserve, the Drakensburg Mountains, and the Kalahari Desert.

Untamed South Africa. Discover an astounding wealth of flora and fauna in unvisited nature reserves, including the desert herds of Kalahari-Gemsbok, the elephants of Addo, the big cats of the Karoo desert, and the fabulous flora of the Cape fynbos. Peak wildflowers are in early September!

Namibia and Zimbabwe

This safari combines unique attractions from two of our favorite countries. We explore dramatic landscapes, discover unique cultures, and observe diverse wildlife. The Zambezi River Valley features Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba, and provides a lush contrast to the stark beauty of Etosha Pan and the Namib Desert. We visit rural villages in Kavangoland, Manicaland, and Matabeleland. At the end of each day, we relax in luxury tented camps and exclusive, luxurious safari lodges. This itinerary features Bwabwata National Park, Etosha National Park, Hwange National Park, Matopos National Park, and Matusadona National Park, as well as the Namib Desert, Sossusvlei and Victoria Falls.

Incomparable Namibia. Namibia is famous for its starkly beautiful desert landscapes, including Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, and the Kalahari Desert. It is also known for abundant wildlife, including elephant, rhino, lion, giraffe and zebra, found in Etosha National Park, and is a great destination for those who are fascinated by overland treks, hot air ballooning, and isolated desert photo and walking safaris.

Great Zimbabwe! A journey through some of Zimbabwe's least visited and most beautiful regions, including the scenic Chimanimani, Nyanga and Bvumba Mountains, the Save Valley Conservancy (where you'll track black rhinos on foot), and the historic Matobo Hills (we'll examine rock art and cave paintings) and ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe.

Tanzania and Zambia

The Zambezi Valley features Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba, and provides a lush contrast to the dry Busanga Plains, the timeless magic of Mana Pools, and the enthralling wilderness of the ruggedly beautiful Chimanimani Mountains. We track dangerous predators on a walking safari, canoe through the crocodile and hippo infested waters of the mighty Zambezi River, and visit rural villages in Manicaland and Matabeleland. In the evening, we relax in comfort in classic tented camps and exclusive safari lodges. This itinerary includes Hwange National Park, Lower Zambezi National Park, Mana Pools National Park, Matusadona National Park, and South Luangwa National Park, as well as the incomparable Victoria Falls.

Madagascar is a treasure trove of biological wonders. Distinctive flora and fauna have evolved over millions of years of physical isolation, making Madagascar a paradise for naturalists. Hear the haunting cry of the indri in the rainforests of Perinet. Delight in the ring-tailed lemurs of Berenty. Snorkel coral gardens at Tuliar. Explore the strange vegetation of the Spiny Forest, and the enchanting hill forests of Mantady. We recommend late April or October.

We'll also observe herds of Africa's most beautiful antelopes, the sable and the roan, as well as the Cape hunting dog.
